Moissanite (Silicon Carbide) was discovered by Nobel Prize-winning Chemist, Dr. Henri Moissan, in a meteorite crater in 1893.

The experts at Charles and Colvard pioneered the creation of Moissanite in a lab, refining their technique over their 20-year history.

In the early years, Moissanite has a yellow-greeish tint to it — but no more!

You can choose from a DEF grade (colorless or GHI grade (near colorless). Do those alphabet letters look familiar? They are the same color grades used in genuine diamonds. Moissanite also has many dazzling colors to choose from.

Moissanite has even greater brilliance and much more dispersion (fire) than a diamond. I.e. more sparkle!

It is the next hardest gem after diamonds and is between 9.25 and 9.5 on the Mohl Hardness Scale, so they are a wonderful and durable alternative.
